Rt Hon Justine Lumumba Kasule, the Minister for General Duties in the office of the Prime Minister emphasizes the significance of team work, describing it as a commandment for individuals to work together to establish an enjoyable world.
Officiating at the third day of the Busoga Prayer Week at St Stephen’s Church, Rubaga, Jinja city, the former National Resistance Movement (NRM) vocal secretary general, elaborates that a prayer is a come-together event that fosters Unity in a community.
In special church service at the Catholic worshiping center on Wednesday October 16, 2024, the minister was represented by the former Lands, Housing and Urban Development Hon. Minister Daudi Migereko, who emphasized that Busoga needs a collective effort for a significant progress.
“As expressed by the Holy Scripture, I can’t agree any less to the fact that indeed we need one another and it is a commandment for us to work together so as to make this world enjoyable for all,” Lumumba said.
Lumumba who is a renowned Catholic believer states Busoga has since rejoiced the power of working as a team and the fruits that come along.
She stressed that “We recently witnessed this fruit during the June 3, 2023 Martyrs day celebrations when Busoga provided leadership in the organizations of the Martyrs day.”
The Minister commended the choice of the scripture and theme of this year’s Prayer “Deepening Regional Cohesion as a Foundation for Sustainable Household Transformation”, which she said it is a pathway for a fundamental change in the region.
The annual prayer week gives leaders and people of Busoga an opportunity to reflect on how far the subregion has progressed. But Lumumba underscores that the initiative is a time to seek God’s mercy as they continue with the implementation of the phased 10-year Busoga Development Agenda (BDA).
She acknowledged the efforts of the Busoga Consortium for Development (BCD) efforts of steadfast coordination in implementation of the Busoga Development Agenda through the piloting of the Village Agricultural Model initiative.
According to former Minister Daudi Migereko, the former boss of the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB), although a prayer is vital, hard working should be prioritized. He highlight the theory of “God help me while taking a step”.
“You can pray and still fail to achieve. You can sleep in the church here but without working, you gain nothing economically,” Migereko told the faithful, emphasizing the need to lead ordinary individuals in hardworking.
As the region continues with the Prayer Week, Lumumba applauds the entire house of Bishops and the Regional Khadi under the Busoga Inter-Religious Council led by Rt. Rev. Dr. Paul Samson Naimanhye Mukembo, the Bishop of Busoga Diocese, for taking the lead in praying for Busoga.
The prayers shall be crowned with a special regional interdenominational assembly for all the people and friends of Busoga at Luuka District Ceremonial grounds on Sunday October 20, 2024. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is anticipated to be the Guest of Honour.
