A Spiritual Call for Unity and Divine Blessings

Day 2 of the Busoga Prayer Week unfolded at St. Stephen’s Cathedral, Waluwerere in Bugiri District, worshippers in a profound spiritual atmosphere as they gathered for a powerful service aimed at fostering unity and blessings across the region.

The main celebrant for the day, Rt. Rev. Paul Suubi Hannington, Bishop of East Busoga Diocese, delivered a stirring message that emphasized the importance of unity among the Basoga.

He called on the people to love and invest in their region highlighting that collective spiritual efforts are essential for the region’s growth and harmony.

Unity is our strength, and through prayer, we can overcome any challenges we face as a community,” Bishop Suubi stated, urging attendees to remain steadfast in their faith and commitment throughout the prayer week.

Hon. Kisa Stephen, the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee and Member of Parliament for Luuka South, represented Rt. Hon. Dr. Rebecca Kadaga during the service rallied all Basoga to prioritize the prayer days of the week and shared heartfelt testimonies of previous prayer initiatives that have brought tangible blessings to the region.

“Let us dedicate ourselves to these days of prayer until the very last day. The fruits of our previous gatherings have shown us that prayer can lead to significant change in our communities,” Hon. Kisa affirmed.

The Director General of the Busoga Consortium for Development, Mr. Anthony Mula, also addressed the gathering, highlighting the relevance of prayer in driving development in Busoga. He outlined the consortium’s long-term vision of making Busoga a model region in various development programs, including education, health, and infrastructure.

“Our prayers this week are not only for spiritual blessings but also for divine guidance in our efforts to improve our communities. We seek to make Busoga a leader in development,” Mr. Mula stated.

The service attracted a range of dignitaries, including Bugiri Local Government Chairman Mr. Mulumba Davidson, Bugiri RDC Paul Kalikwani, members of the Busoga Consortium secretariat, and officials from the Kingdom of Busoga, led by the Minister of Agriculture, Owek. Sam Nkenga. The gathering was marked by a strong sense of community and shared purpose.

This year’s Busoga Prayer Week, organized by the Busoga Consortium for Development in partnership with the Busoga Inter-Religious Council and Obwa Kyabazinga Bwa Busoga, is the third edition since its inception in 2022.

The week aims to build cohesion and solidarity within the region, aligning with the overarching theme of unity and development.

As the week progresses, anticipation builds for the main celebration scheduled for 20th October 2024 in Luuka District, where President Yoweri Museveni is expected to grace the occasion as the chief guest.

The people are encouraged to continue participating in the events and activities leading up to this significant day, fostering a spirit of prayer and unity among the Busoga.
