BUSOGA REGION GEARS UP FOR THE LAUNCH OF THE VAM PLANTING SEASON

Busoga, Uganda | March 29, 2025, In a groundbreaking move towards agricultural transformation, Busoga Region, under the leadership of the Busoga Consortium, is set to launch the VAM Planting Season. This initiative is designed to enhance food security, improve farmer livelihoods, and drive economic empowerment across the region.

Key Leaders to Preside Over the Launch. The launch will take place across multiple locations, with distinguished leaders spearheading the initiative:

Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, Patron of the Busoga Consortium, will flag off the soya bean planting season in Busana Village, Kamuli District.

Rt. Hon. Rukia Nakadama, 3rd Deputy Prime Minister & Minister Without Portfolio, will lead the launch in Mishanga Village, Mayuge District.

Owek. Dr. Muvawala Joseph Prime Minister Busoga Kingdom and Executive Director National Planning Authority will spearhead the event in Namayombe Village, Namayingo District.

This marks a renewed commitment to modern farming techniques, increased productivity, and community-driven development. By equipping farmers with high-quality inputs, improved knowledge, and innovative farming methods, the VAM initiative seeks to uplift thousands of households, creating a more resilient and food-secure Busoga.

Agriculture remains the backbone of our economy. By embracing modern planting methods,lts not just feeding our people but also creating sustainable incomes and transforming livelihoods.

The launch event will attract government officials, agricultural experts, local leaders, and farmers, all working together to unlock the full potential of Busoga’s fertile lands.

As the countdown to March 29 begins, all stakeholders, farmers, policymakers, private sector partners, and development organizations are encouraged to actively participate in this game-changing agricultural movement. Together, we are sowing the seeds of prosperity for Busoga.

This launch is a continuation of the 8th August 2024 milestone, when the Busoga Consortium for Development, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice President of Uganda, China Agricultural University (CAU), and Tencent Holdings, officially launched VAM and YOREDI (Young Entrepreneurs Development Initiative). These initiatives serve as vehicles for unpacking agricultural and youth empowerment strategies, ensuring sustainable growth and innovation within the region.

With the VAM Planting Season set to take off, Busoga is on the path to becoming a leader in sustainable agriculture and economic empowerment.
