Joy and thanksgiving have swept across the Busoga Kingdom as His Majesty Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV and Her Royal Highness Queen Jovia Mutesi welcomed twin sons — Prince William Ethan Nadiope and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope — a historic blessing that symbolizes continuity, divine favor, and renewed hope for the Kingdom’s unity, stability, and long-term development.

The double blessing comes just days before the Kingdom marks the Kyabazinga’s 11th Coronation Anniversary and his 25th year as Gabula of Bugabula.

A Rare Royal Blessing

The birth of twin princes has been hailed as historic, as the royal family last recorded twins nearly five decades ago under HM William Wilberforce Nadiope II, grandfather to the reigning Kyabazinga.

“This is not the first time, but it is a special blessing that this time the twins are boys,” said Omulangira Woira Kitimbo, the Isabalangira of Bugabula. “We celebrate their arrival as we also mark 25 years of His Majesty as Gabula. It is a symbol of continuity, hope, and renewed strength for our Kingdom.”

The Busoga Consortium for Development (BCD), under the co-patronage of the Kyabazinga, hailed the twins’ birth as a milestone that reinforces stability, unity, and ongoing development in the Kingdom. Dr. Anthony Mula, Director General of BCD, stated:

“This blessing comes at a time when Busoga is focused on accelerating development, promoting social cohesion, and uplifting communities across the region. The arrival of the royal twins is a moment of inspiration for all Basoga and a symbol of divine favor guiding our shared mission for a prosperous and resilient Busoga. As we plan the Busoga Prayer Week for this year, part of the agenda will be to offer heartfelt thanks to God for this gift, celebrating the Kingdom’s unity and continued growth.”

Leaders React with Joy

George Mutyabule, Speaker of the Busoga Lukiiko, praised God for the safe birth and explained royal succession traditions:

“When twins are born, the firstborn is regarded as the heir. That would be Prince William Ethan Nadiope. The Kingdom rejoices not only in the birth of the princes but also in the continuity and stability it symbolizes for Busoga.”

The Prime Minister (Katuukilo) of Busoga, Owek. Dr. Joseph Muvawala, described the birth as a unifying moment for all citizens:

“This is a time of celebration for the Kingdom. We must all join in thanksgiving and stand with our King, as we continue to work together for Busoga’s development, prosperity, and long-term stability.”

Strengthening Development and Stability

The Busoga Consortium for Development emphasized that the royal twins’ birth represents more than a family celebration—it is a symbol of hope and continuity for regional development initiatives. BCD’s projects in agriculture, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure aim to mirror the stability and future growth symbolized by the new generation of princes.

Dr. Mula added:

“The Kingdom’s growth and stability are closely linked to strong leadership and community unity. The birth of Prince William Ethan and Prince Arnold Eli inspires all of us to continue striving for economic development, social cohesion, and environmental sustainability under the Kyabazinga’s guidance as our co-patron”

Coronation Anniversary Preparations

All eyes are now set on September 13, 2025, when Busoga will celebrate the 11th Coronation Anniversary of the Kyabazinga in Bugembe.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has been invited as Chief Guest, commemorating his role in enthroning Kyabazinga Gabula IV eleven years ago.

Eng. Patrick Batumbya, chairperson of the Coronation Committee, revealed that the event will run under the theme: “Greening Busoga: A Future Anchored in Sustainability.” He urged Basoga to embrace environmental stewardship as part of the celebrations, linking ecological progress to the Kingdom’s long-term stability and prosperity.

Celebrating the Royal Twins

The royal twins were born on August 27, 2025, and have been named Prince William Ethan Nadiope (firstborn) and Prince Arnold Eli Nadiope. Their arrival coincides with significant milestones for the Kyabazinga, including his 11th Coronation Anniversary on September 13, 2025, and 25 years as Gabula of Bugabula. The celebrations will be graced by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as Chief Guest, and the event will run under the theme: “Greening Busoga: A Future Anchored in Sustainability.”

  • This historic birth is particularly notable as the last royal twins were recorded nearly 50 years ago under HM William Wilberforce Nadiope II, grandfather of the reigning Kyabazinga. It is seen as a blessing that strengthens Busoga’s unity, development, and long-term stability, and will be celebrated with thanksgiving during this year’s Busoga Prayer Week, where Basoga will come together to honor God for the Kingdom’s blessings and guidance.
