The Busoga Consortium for Development (BCD) has boosted the ongoing Busoga Masaza Cup Tournament with the donation of training soccer balls to 14 participating teams, in a move aimed at supporting local talent and strengthening community football as the competition nears its climax.
The initiative follows the recent Busoga–Shandong Cooperation Signing Ceremony, where BCD and Shandong Province reaffirmed their commitment to community development and youth empowerment across Busoga.
The donation, presented by Ms. Esther Mirembe, the Public Relations Officer of BCD, was officially received by the Speaker of the Busoga Lukiiko, Owek. George Mutyabule, and the Deputy Speaker, Owek. Florence Biruma, on behalf of the Busoga Kingdom.
“This gesture comes at a crucial time as the tournament nears its climax. We urge team managers to make good use of the balls to improve local teams and nurture talent,” said Mirembe.
In his remarks, Owek. George Mutyabule applauded the Consortium for its continued support to sports and pledged that the Lukiiko would ensure the balls reach all the intended teams.
“We appreciate BCD for this timely support. It will motivate our teams and help elevate community football standards in Busoga,” he noted.
The Busoga Masaza Cup has become one of the region’s most vibrant sporting events, uniting communities and showcasing exceptional football talent from across the chiefdoms. The latest donation reflects BCD’s growing commitment to promoting youth empowerment, sports excellence, and regional cooperation as key pillars of Busoga’s development.
