The partnership between Busoga and China continues to grow stronger as a second delegation of young Ugandans is currently in China for a Seminar on Sustainable Development Capacity and South-to-South Cooperation in Sustainable Development for Developing Countries.

The program runs from 9th to 29th September 2025 and is being conducted by the China International Economic Consultants Co., Ltd.
The training is equipping participants with knowledge, skills, and practical strategies to advance sustainable development in their countries. Delegates from various developing nations are taking part, sharing experiences and exploring solutions to common challenges in poverty reduction, community empowerment, and people-centred transformation.

Uganda’s delegation includes representatives from the Busoga Consortium for Development (BCD), who are playing an active role in the seminar. The team consists of:
• Ntange Andrew – Resident District Commissioner, Jinja District
• Nalukwago Elfansi Doreen – Business Management Officer, BCD
• Bagalana Ronald – Production Officer, Busana Village, Kamuli District, BCD
• Waiswa Ronald – Youth Coordinator, Busana Village, Kamuli District, BCD

Their participation demonstrates Busoga’s commitment to nurturing grassroots leadership and youth-led transformation as part of Uganda’s broader development agenda.

The seminar is part of the ongoing South-to-South cooperation initiatives that have become possible through the deepening ties between Uganda and China. Over the past years, several delegations from Uganda particularly Busoga have benefited from exposure, skills training, and knowledge sharing across different sectors in China.

The Busoga Consortium for Development continues to prioritise opportunities that empower young leaders. Mr Mula Anthony DG BCD has expressed appreciation for China’s consistent support, pledging the Consortium’s readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation for mutual development.
“We remain committed to preparing a generation of leaders who will drive Busoga and Uganda towards prosperity, self-reliance, and sustainable transformation,” Mr Mula emphasised.

As the training continues, the Ugandan delegation is gaining valuable insights and networks that will contribute directly to community-based initiatives and national development strategies once they return home.

The seminar marks another milestone in the Busoga China partnership, ensuring that young leaders are equipped to turn knowledge into action for the benefit of their communities and Uganda at large.
