A new chapter was written for Busoga’s education sector as the Rt. Hon. Rukia Isanga Nakadama, the 3rd Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda, presided over the launch of the Hisense Premium Product Line and CSR Initiative at the Hisense Headquarters in Bugolobi, Kampala on Friday, 19th September 2025.
The colourful ceremony brought together headteachers from 50 primary schools across Uganda, with the majority drawn from Busoga, reaffirming the region’s commitment to advancing access to quality education. The Busoga Consortium for Development (BCD), in partnership with the Busoga Education Initiative, played a central role in identifying over 40 schools from Busoga to benefit from the project.
At the launch, Hisense Uganda announced the donation of 50 Digital LED screens to be installed in selected schools with internet connectivity. These screens will enable pupils to access e-learning platforms and innovative teaching tools, directly connecting learners to some of the best educational content available in Uganda.
This marks a bold stride toward restoring Busoga’s long-standing tradition of educational excellence.
As part of the event, Hisense also unveiled its latest innovation, the 116-inch Premium Smart TV, a state-of-the-art product showcasing the company’s commitment to cutting-edge technology and entertainment.
In her keynote remarks, Rt. Hon. Nakadama commended Hisense Uganda for the donation, emphasizing the importance of such initiatives in improving equitable access to education. She noted that empowering schools in regions like Busoga, which have faced challenges in national examinations, is essential for building a brighter future.
She further applauded Hisense for aligning its business growth with community empowerment.
Her remarks also underscored Busoga’s role in Uganda’s leadership landscape, highlighting the need for continued unity and support for visionary leaders committed to development at both regional and national levels.
For over 15 years, Hisense Uganda has been more than just an investor. Beyond creating jobs and empowering households, the company has consistently supported community-driven initiatives that improve livelihoods. This CSR project is yet another demonstration of Hisense’s enduring commitment to uplifting communities through education, technology, and innovation.
Following the launch, Rt. Hon. Nakadama later hosted Ms. Liu Ming Shu, Managing Director of Smartec Electronics Ltd, at her office to appreciate Hisense Uganda’s donation of the 50 screens to primary schools in Busoga and across Uganda.
Ms. Liu, accompanied by Mr. Asim, Manager at Hisense Uganda, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to continue working with Uganda in driving digital transformation in education.
This milestone stands as a powerful reminder of what strategic collaboration between government, private sector, and development partners can achieve in shaping the future of Uganda’s education.
At the BCD Secretariat, we congratulate the people of Busoga, Hisense Uganda, and all stakeholders committed to transforming the future of education.
