Chili farmers from Busoga have achieved a major milestone with the successful delivery of their first batch of dried chili to the Kamuli Collection Center. The consignment, officially received on September 17, 2025, by Kehong Company a key partner under the China–Uganda Agricultural Cooperation Industrial Park marks a significant step forward for the region’s agricultural transformation.

The harvest follows three months of dedicated cultivation, guided by agricultural experts in partnership with the Busoga Consortium, which has been instrumental in connecting local farmers to international markets, particularly in China. Through this collaboration with Kehong Company, farmers are assured of direct earnings, eliminating middlemen and ensuring fair returns for their produce.

Congratulating the farmers, Mr. Mula Anthony, Director General of the Busoga Consortium, applauded their resilience and commitment:

“This achievement is more than a harvest—it is a testament to the power of collaboration between the Busoga Consortium and our friends from China. Together, we are unlocking opportunities that directly uplift our farmers and transform livelihoods.

The chili project is one of the flagship initiatives under the Consortium’s agricultural transformation agenda, aimed at empowering rural households, promoting commercial farming, and strengthening cross-border trade partnerships.

Local farmers expressed optimism that the initiative will not only boost household incomes but also inspire greater participation of youth and women in agribusiness.

With this first successful delivery, the Busoga Consortium is preparing to expand chili production across the sub-region, cementing its partnership with China as a model for rural transformation, economic empowerment, and sustainable development.
